Way of the water:

Tom & Kayla's romantic engagement session

These two beautiful souls have a winter wedding, so we decided for some beautiful summer engagement photos. We chose a date in July when we were hoping beautiful weather. The day arrived and gray clouds were on the horizon. Watching the weather app, it said that the rain was supposed to stop by the time the session started. But we arrived at Coe Lake and found that the rain was still going strong. Despite that, we decided to go for it! I strapped my umbrella to my light kit and off we went.

Despite the rain, we weren't the only ones out there... They were finishing up with a festival so the couple received many praises from vendors and passers-by. Walking around taking beautiful photos and finally decided to take a small respite from the rain and take pictures under the gazebo and 'dance in the rain'!

As we made our way to the bridge and wildflower fields we were surprised by a sweet proposal in the park. After taking a moment to appreciate such a sweet moment, we took some of my favorite photos of the session. And I love that while taking these photos (which are a total vibe) we got some great wind action... (I am all about the wind action). Then we headed to a wildflower field and enjoyed the blooms of the season.

Came to the point where we wanted to move to the next location which was Berea Falls, but it was still raining and muddy and opted to reschedule when the weather wasn't going to be too treacherous. And I am so grateful we did! We were rewarded greatly with beautiful sunshine and warm weather!

I decided to capitalize on the opportunity to practice a shot I have always wanted to do... and drag my shutter. What that does is soften the water, making it look continuous. So I instructed my couple that they must remain as still as possible. The results came out beautifully!

After the waterfalls, we decided to go exploring...

Then heading back towards the cars, we arrived at the perfect spot, just in time for the sunset. It was right beside the road and we couldn't stop laughing for joy at all the wonderful people who kept congratulating them and remarking how beautiful they looked! We finished the night out with some beautiful yellow wildflowers growing by the side of the road.

Congratulations Tom and Kayla! I loved every moment of your wonderful summer engagement photos and cannot wait until your beautiful winter wedding! Only 5 more months until Mr. and Mrs. Barefield!
